PKMN Skies: A Hearty After Me Own Heart

TheBerserkerGJ was kind enough to let me borrow her awesome character, Cortes.  At 52, he's one of the oldest characters in the town of Springleaf and probably has the most questionable past, being an actual pirate once upon a time.  On the other end of the spectrum is Asuka, one of Springleaf's youngest citizens and a sweet lil' orphan.  On the surface, they seem like polar opposites, but I think these two would get along very well.  Asuka never had any friends or family and is thusly new to this game and eager to make up for lost time.  Cortes, in his advanced age, has learned that important things in life aren't treasures and adventures, but the people you can share them with; he's had a shaky past, but wants to prove that it's never too late to change your ways and you're never too old to help out your friends.

...That said, it looks like their friendship's off to a bit of a rough start.  Cortes was giving Asuka one of those light strokes on the chin like when you say "good job, kid."  Asuka, however, is a trigger-happy goofball and overdid her stroke.  Turns out to be an especially crappy mistake for Cortes, given that Dark-Types like him are weak against Fighting-Type moves.  I hope Asuka didn't break him...

Man...Cortes is not easy to draw!  He's a beautifully-detailed character, but beautifully-detailed characters don't draw themselves.  I have to give kudos to Berserker for designing such a magnificent swashbuckler and being able to draw him consistently.
