PKMN Skies: Aragoto-Shi

DasherDoodle and I were talking a few days ago and something popped into my head.  I thought it'd be funny if her character, Sunni was scared to death...despite already being a Ghost-Type (one that's supposed to be a dead human, no less).  Dasher loved the idea and gave me permission to Drag Sunni to Hell (awful movie, by the way).

For reasons unknown, Asuka mailed herself to Sunni to surprise her with an impromptu Kabuki performance.  Unfortunately, Asuka was a little too bold in her performance and literally left her audience breathless...Where she got the make-up, wig and clothes is anyone's guess.

If you're wondering WHY I dressed Asuka up in kabuki gear and had her scream "KABUUUKI!," I got a certain Super Sentai villain stuck in my head when I pitched the idea to Dasher.  The villain's name is Kabuki Novice and aside from being part of a monster race determined to wipe out humanity, he was a big fan of kabuki.  I always loved how he was just some awkward doofus the main villains didn't even like, how he spent more time possessing civilians than fighting the heroes because he kinda sucked at fighting (but was still clearly malevolent and not a sympathetic monster) and how his love of kabuki had NOTHING to do with his being an evil monster; he was a monster first and just got into kabuki on the side.  Throughout his 2 episodes on the show, he'd scream "KABUUUUUKI!" when charging into battle or possessing a victim; that battle cry has been stuck in my head ever since I saw those episodes a few years ago.

Cartoon characters die and become ghosts all he time.  What you don't often see, however, is a ghost dying and becoming some kind of second-level ghost.  I really liked the idea of Sunni somehow dying and her "ghost" looking exactly like her "body," save for a palette swap (also, I like palette swaps).  Don't worry about Sunni, though.  Since her "body" is already a ghost, she can just walk back into it and "come back to life" whenever she wants.  That said...it'd be kinda funny if Sunni walked around "dead" for a little while and absolutely NOTHING changed about her schedule.  Like, she'd still be tangible and her "corpse" wouldn't even decompose.

Once again, I had DasherDoodle's permission to do this and we both agreed that "dying" would be an easily-remedied situation for Sunni, so I'm not trying to cause her character any real harm or throw a weird monkey wrench into how she's supposed to RP in the future.

Thank you again for letting me run with this kooky idea, Dasher; I hope it lives up to your hopes and dreams.  For anyone who hasn't already checked out Dasher's work, do so immediately!  She's a CRAZY PROLIFIC artist with plenty of work to peruse and each picture is loaded with quirky charms and interesting takes on scenery.  If nothing else, you'll get to see Sunni drawn by her master and not some pretender.

Fun Facts

- Aragoto-Shi is a type of character seen in kabuki plays.  This character is a hero with great physical strength who goes on many daring and romantic adventures with flamboyant flair.  Considering Asuka is a loud goofball, I figured she fit the role well.
- This is the second submission in a row that utilizes a Japanese term I never heard of as its title.  I wonder if I'll try to keep the record going.
