PKMN Skies: Beach Bods

Oh, like you're one to judge, Asuka.  How are you gonna tan fur, exactly?

For a while, I've wanted to see a scene where two women are tanning on a beach, only one of them brought a book instead of a tanning reflector.  The original idea was Rarity (reflector) and Twilight (book) from MLP, but I couldn't find anyone to take up the project.  On a whim, I decided, "What's the difference?  I'll just draw it myself and recast the characters to people I can draw."

And so, I just drew it myself and recast the characters to people I can draw...Specifically, Asuka and confusedkangaroo's Miri...Very lucky somebody in the group has a Twilight-level obsession with books and hangs out with Asuka to boot.  The chances of that happening are about as slim as finding a Shiny Pokemon...Which I did sometime ago...So I guess I was overdue for a book nerd to fit perfectly into my plans.

Aaaaaaaaanywho, Asuka and Miri are enjoying one of the last Summer days on the beach.  I guess Miri was willing to try new things, but she wasn't quite able to figure out how to do it.  A+ for effort, though...and originality.

The book Miri is...using?...The book is "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and More Medieval Prose and Poetry.  I normally make awful Pokemon puns out of real-world stories for my submissions, but Gawain and the Green Knight is a genuine Medieval poem that I vaguely remember reading in English class many years ago.  Considering Miri's a huge fantasy buff, I thought she might not settle for some Poke-pun ripoff and deemed it safer to give her the real McCoy.  While I was busy combining Nintendo properties with Medieval fantasy, I simply couldn't NOT think of Legend of Zelda, so I put the Master Sword on the back cover to scratch that itch...and avoid having to write an actual synopsis on the back...

Once Miri's finished Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I guess she can talk about it with Sir Gawain, the green knight.  Getting his opinion on the story would be very interesting since he was alive when it was written...Maybe he even wrote it himseeeeeeeeelf...

And Asuka's wearing Bret Hart glasses.  Because my character's like everything that I like.
