PKMN Skies: Campfire Stories

  "Hey, I'm Cory!" He chirped happily.  The Beedrill held out both of his stingers, one to the Luxray and one to the Raichu so they could shake. "Nice to meet you Asuka!"

  Asuka foolishly tried to fist-bump Cory, which only resulted in pricking her hand.  Lesson learned. "Yow! Uh...I mean, nice to meet you."

  "I'm very-very grateful for my adopted family, croak. If you don't mind, what's your family like, croak?"

  Asuka sighed and the smile faded from her face.  "My family...doesn't hang out anymore.  I met them all when I joined the Pokemon League, we all fought on the same team.  We got 7 badges in my region before...THAT night...We all kinda split up after that..."  Asuka stared at the ground for a few seconds.  She turned back to Dixie and forced a smile.  "Sorry about that.  Um...It's kind of a long story.  I don't know if you wanna hear it.  It's not my favorite story...

  Dixie patted the Raichu on the shoulder.  "I'm sorry.  You don't have to tell it if you don't want to.  But if you need someone to listen, I'll be happy to lend an ear, croak."  Rolly nudged Asuka's leg, cocking his head with a small bark.


Some scenarios I encountered during PKMNSkies' first camping trip.  I manged to run into PizzaProgram's and DarkraixCresselia's wonderful characters, Cory and Dixie (and Dixie's pet, Rolly Polly).  It was a blast RPing with them because their characters were so well-written and they put up with all of Asuka's weirdness.  Darkrai actually teamed up with Asuka again at the following camping trip and even drew this wonderful picture.  Pizza and I also kicked off a storyline where Asuka took Cory under her wing to teach him how to fight; I saw the storyboards for that project...it's gonna be awesome.

Director's Commentary

- This is my first time ever drawing a Beedrill, Croagunk and Spheal.  The Beedrill and Spheal were wicked easy, but the Croagunk gave me a challenge, especially the head-bumps.  I hope everyone turned out well.

- I was lazy with the background...I don't like doing backgrounds and this picture was already running late.

- I uh...botched these scenes pretty badly, didn't I?  They don't look too much the way they were written, do they?

- The Luxray mentioned in Cory's post is :devmysterkittenthe1st:'s character, Oliver.  I didn't include him here because I was too lazy not confident enough in my abilities to do a three-person pose where one character is heavily-obscured by the others.  For what it's worth, Ollie told a chillling campfire story and won a special Litwick in a lottery.
